There are so many things in our world that stir up this energy-zapping emotion. Fear comes in different forms. It can be awakened by a frightening or difficult situation like a sudden health issue, a strained relationship, or a job loss. Commonly, fear is rooted in the anxiety that comes with the unknown. An adventure may at first appear to be exciting and positive, like moving to a new community, getting a new job, or attending a new school. But often, in the end, the underlying emotion connected to these challenges is fear.

Teaching leader Micki Harding gives us a concrete example on how she combats her fears.

Having to replace fear with faith happens infrequently for some, while for others, it is a moment by moment struggle. Christ wants us to move forward in our faith and trusting Him in all things. One product of this trust is freedom from the bondage of fear.

“He said to them, ‘Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?’” Mark 4:40 (ESV)

“And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” Matthew 10:30-31 (NIV)

How do you push aside your fear and keep moving forward in your walk of faith?
