Have you decided who Jesus is yet?
There is this intriguing chapter in the Gospel of John that really nails three types of people who are deciding who Jesus is. (John 7:25-52)
Which one are you?
Group one: THE CONFUSED
John 7:40 “When they heard these words, some of the people said, “This really is the Prophet.” Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “Is the Christ to come from Galilee? Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the offspring of David, and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David was?”
Similar to these people, you may be asking questions about who Jesus is. Was he just a good guy in history? Was he only a historical character? Was he actually God? It can be difficult trying to understand who Jesus is and it’s likely that you may have doubts, but that’s okay. Jesus has one thing to tell those who are confused about Him- BELIEVE. Despite your uncertainty just choose to simply believe Him and in Him.
Group two: CRITICALLY CERTAIN
John 7:47 “You mean he has deceived you also?” the Pharisees retorted. “Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him? No! But this mob that knows nothing of the law—there is a curse on them.”
“No intelligent person really believes that Jesus is the Son of God” or, “anyone who believes in Jesus is so ignorant”. Sound familiar? These are words coming from the critically certain-these people know what they know and will not be persuaded. Here is a challenge for those who do not believe that the story of Jesus could possibly be true or accurate-INQUIRE of JESUS/ RESEARCH & STUDY HIS WORD. Jesus is challenging you to do your research about Him, don’t assume you know all there is to know about Him. Research and with an open-mind study His Word, you may be surprised at what you find.
Group three: THE BELIEVERS
John 7:31,38 “Yet many of the people believed in him…Whoever believes in me,‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive”
For those who know Jesus and believe whole-heatedly in Him, what is your next step?-WORSHIP.
Truly worship Him and praise Him for who you know Him to be which is a Loving Father, our Savior, Lord and much more!
